Yahoo for things that taste like a treat but serve an important role in your healthity-health.
Allow me to introduce, the psyllium smoothie. Which (how can I say this?) can help with your digestive system AND taste like a malted milk, both at the same time.
Dairy free, but of course!
So here’s the scoop:
I love taking something I need to do for my health anyway and turning it into something fun or delicious or, even better, both.
This is like that.
See, I was taking psyllium husk for the fiber and, let’s be honest, all on its lonesome it’s kinda gross.
Y’know, one’a those things you try ‘n pop down as quick as you you can, and it’s never quite quick enough.
Cuz, see, it’s a triple threat, right? Thick, gelatinous and flavorless … Plus it gets stuck in the bottom of the cup … Oh joy! Just what I love!
Cool thing is … Some’a those characteristics are exactly what makes psyllium the perfect smoothie ingredient. Thick ‘n creamy, that lets the flavor of the main ingredients shine through. Yes please!
With a kiss of fiber.
So yeah, smoothie-wise, it’s your basic win-win.
The flavor is mild and delicious, like a chocolate malted milk.

Mellow Cocoanana Psyllium Smoothie Recipe
- 1 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp whole husk psyllium (Soaked, if possible. See below.)
- 6 raw cashews
- 2 tsp cocoa powder
- 1/2 large banana, frozen
- 3 ice cubes
- Optional: 1/8 cup mulberries
Prep: If possible, soak psyllium and cashews beforehand, mixing all non-frozen ingredients in bullet blender cup and letting them sit in fridge at least 20 min to thicken. The longer the better since it thickens more and more over time.
Add remaining ingredients and blend til smooth, about 2 min.
Enjoy!
